Bankers' marks were a way to differentiate official coinage from counterfeit, and perhaps had other purposes that are lost (at least to me). In several modern languages including Russian and Italian, moneta (Spanish moneda) is the word for coin. As with the goddess Moneta, Juno Moneta’s name is derived either from the Latin monre , since, as protectress of funds, she “warned” of instability or more likely from the Greek “moneres” meaning “alone, unique”. These coins bear the inscription of 'COS III' on the obverse (front), which tells us that Hadrian was on his third term of Consular power when the coins were struck, dating them to between 134 and 138 AD. Our logo is unique. It was designed by a friend who was also an accomplished graphic designer, Cy Schlosser. Cy was also a coin collector whose passion was toned Peace Dollars and nice ancient coins. Cy's design incorporated the scales of Juno Moneta into a hand rendered chisel type design reminiscent of Roman inscriptions.
